The success of our Program depends on the joint efforts and dedication of People located across CAFTA-DR’s broad landscape.
They work in cities, towns, rural and protected areas and marine environments. They come from government, educational institutions, civil society, including NGOs, and the general public. They hail from varied social and economic sectors.
They play distinct but complementary roles to achieve effective cooperation toward our broad objectives of protecting, improving and conserving the environment, and toward our shared overarching goal of sustainable development.

The Environmental Cooperation Commission, the Environmental Affairs Council and the Secretariat for Environmental Matters each play a distinct role in review and/or implementation of the Program’s cooperative environmental activities. |
The Country Points of Contact play a vital role in assuring the success of environmental cooperation. Designated by the ministries or departments responsible for cooperation, they are the “glue” of Program coordination. They receive and transmit information to and from their governments, other Points of Contact and implementing agencies, contractors and NGOs. |
Implementers are the agencies, contractors and NGOs which plan, manage and carry out Activities to reach Program objectives. They provide the training and other capacity building initiatives at the heart of the Program, perform essential background assessments and analyses, build linkages between governments and civil society and conduct outreach and education programs for the public. |
