Regional Workshop on Risk Assessment for Marine Species

Participants are CITES scientific authorities and fishery officials from CAFTA-DR countries (including the US), Panama, Belize, and Colombia. Dr Javier Tovar from SEMARNAT / Mexico will teach the group in its risk assessment methodology, and the group will apply the methodology in working groups. This methodology serves as a tool for the government to make decisions about marine species. A representative of OSPESCA will also be participating.

CITES Regional Coordination Meeting

Participants from CAFTA-DR countries (including the US), Panama, Belize plus their CITES administrative authorities will meet to discuss proposals and issues of national and regional priority to coordinate information and support. This meeting also serves as a platform for discussion and regional preparation for meetings of the CITES plant and animal committees in July in Geneva.
